WOSSEN TESHOME BOKAN
Managing Director
Wossen Teshome Bokan is a leading intellectual property and corporate lawyer with a law degree from the University of London and over 25 years of experience in the field. Wossen has also been trained under her late father, Mr. Teshome Gabre-Mariam Bokan, and worked with him for 13 years both as a corporate lawyer and leading his IP department. In 2012, she established her own boutique intellectual property firm which she has then merged with her father’s firm, after his passing at the end of 2016, to create and manage this full-service law firm under TESHOME GABRE-MARIAM BOKAN Metasebia.
TAMRAT TALEGETA TESSEMA
Senior Attorney
Tamrat Talegeta Tessema (PhD) is an Assistant Professor of Law of Arsi University in Ethiopia and practices corporate law in general. His main practice areas include Merger and Acquisition, litigation, tax administration, banking and insurance. Tamrat holds a PhD from Seoul National University, with an LLB and LLM from Addis Ababa University.
TILAHUN MITIKU TESFAYE
SENIOR Litigation Lawyer
Tilahun Mitiku Tesfaye is the firm’s leading litigation lawyer with an LLB and LLM from Addis Ababa University. Tilahun served as a presiding judge in civil, commercial, labour and penal divisions of the Federal Court of Ethiopia before he started private practice over 20 years ago. Other than litigation, Tilahun is also an astute corporate lawyer with deep understanding of commercial principles and practical implications of legal advice.
Gemechu Merera Fana
Corporate Lawyer
Gemechu Merera Fana is the firm’s leading corporate lawyer, recognized for his deep expertise in corporate transactions, litigation, and regulatory matters. Prior to starting private practice, Gemechu served as a public prosecutor and a judge at the Federal Tax Appeal Commission, bringing valuable government and judicial experience to his corporate advisory work. Among numerous responsibilities, Gemechu played a key role in drafting and reviewing major legislations, policy documents, and regulatory frameworks. He was also a member of the National Technical Committee tasked with amending the longstanding Commercial Code of Ethiopia. In this role, he has spent over two years focusing on the revision of the bankruptcy legislation, establishing himself as one of the few experts in Ethiopian bankruptcy law.
Ruth Gizachew Guyasa
Consultant
Ruth Gizachew Guyasa is a consultant handling and overseeing assignments in corporate, tax, mergers and acquisition matters of the Firm. Ruth holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Denver and a Juris Doctor from University of Pittsburg, with a Certificate of Advance Study in International and Comparative Law.
Daniel Tariku Tamiru
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Daniel Tariku Tamiru is a lawyer at the Firm, holding an LLB and an LLM in Business Law from the School of Law and Governance Studies, Addis Ababa University. Daniel, although an expert in intellectual property law, works full-time with both Corporate and Investment, and Intellectual Property departments of the Firm.
TIGIST DANCHA TENECHA
Associate Lawyer
Tigist Dancha Tenecha is a lawyer at the Firm, holding an LLB from Addis Ababa University, School of Law and an MBA from Yardstick International College. Ms. Dancha is primarily dedicated to the Intellectual Property wing of the Firm; but also performs assignments and research in general under the laws of Ethiopia, to the corporate side.
Kumsa Bekele
RECORD & MARKETING MANAGER
Kumsa Bekele has been with the firm for about ten years now. In addition to being the advertising and marketing consultant of the Firm, he manages and secures all data and archive. Kumsa holds a BA in Sociology from the California State University at Fullerton and trainings in data management.
Mulugeta Teferi FENTA
Finance
Mulugeta Teferi Fenta is the accountant and financial officer of the Firm and holds a degree in accounting. He has been with the Firm for over a decade starting his employment with the now merged law firm of Teshome Gabre-Mariam Bokan.
Meron Mekonnen Hailu
General Manager
Meron Mekonnen Hailu has been with the Firm for 18 years, starting in the now merged law firm of Teshome Gabre-Mariam Bokan. She manages the firm and oversees both client relations and billing. Meron holds a degree in Business Management and Management Information System.
Danel Andualem SILAYNU
LIAISON OFFICER
Daniel Andualem Silaynu is a formality and Liaison officer for court filings and governmental offices at the Firm. Daniel currently serves as a key point of contact between the Firm and various courts, tribunals and government institutions; he handles deliveries and retrieval of filings and formalities, ensuring timely and proper processing of paperwork with all courts and government bodies.
Tinsae Fikru MULUNEH
PARALEGAL
Tinsae Fikru Muluneh is a paralegal at the Firm. Although she holds a BA in automotive engineering from Bahir Dar University, she has been fully trained as a legal assistant. Tinsae also attends to in-house English-Amharic translations, formality verifications in IP prosecution and provides general assistances to lawyers of the Firm.
BEHAILU YILMA FELEKE
PA & LEAD MARKET INVESTIGATOR
Behailu Yilma Feleke is a Personal Assistant to the Managing Partner and Market Investigator at the Firm. With a deep understanding and knowledge on the city of Addis Ababa and personal skills, Behailu leads the market investigation team of the Firm. Behailu is also a PA to the Managing Director for the same reason and qualifications.
